Instant Interpret is the brainchild of Alicia Cayuela and Chris Bartlett, two highly experienced language professionals who reside in Cadaques, Spain

Alicia Cayuela

Born in Barcelona, Spain, Alicia is a sworn interpreter, accredited by New York City and certified for international practice by the Hague. Fully bilingual, she has Spanish parents, but was mainly brought up in the United States. Her high school years were spent in Oregon, Barcelona, and Maryland. She subsequently went on to attend Art school in Baltimore and New York City, before obtaining a further degree in painting and drawing from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States.

Alicia initiated her interpreting career in the early 90s, passing her degree in New York City before receiving the Supreme Court interpreting certification. From 1994 to 1999 she interpreted in over 400 court cases in New york city, Denver Colorado and Phoenix Arizona. Her work in the legal field also included green card interviews. During this period Alicia interpreted frequently in New York for multinational business meetings, scientific meetings and training courses.

Upon moving back to Barcelona, she began to interpret in the many conferences which are held in the city, participating in over 500 events on subjects as diverse as space research, new technologies, art, culture, design, marketing, religion, engineering, scientific research, psychology, philosophy, mechanics, feminism and politics. Alicia has also worked as an interpreter with NASA and New Scotland Yard.

Chris Bartlett

Originally from the south of England, Chris has spent the last twelve years living and working in northern Spain. A certified TEFL teacher as well as a talented web developer, he has a wealth of experience producing interactive learning services for the internet and digital media.

At Instant Interpret, Chris oversees our web classes (often giving English classes himself) and is responsible for providing technical support for our video conferencing and conference call interpreting services, as well as liaising with our technology suppliers.

In his spare time, Chris can be found running, swimming or cycling in the wonderful national park around his home in Cadaques.
